Sun is #1 cause of premature aging of the skin.
Sun is #1 cause of hyperpigmentation.
#1 premature aging prevention and #1 skin cancer prevention is
proper using of proper sunscreen
avoiding sun exposure
The real damage to the skin comes from cumulative sun damage over a lifetime - little by little.
How does sun do damage to the skin?
Sun causes the formation of the radicals in the skin . Free radicals have one electron and desparately are searching for the second one to make a pair. They steal it from a healthy cell. When the cell looses an electrone DNA is altered. The cell replication starts going in an improper way, which gives a potential risk of cancer. Also, when a healthy cell is affected by free radicals, that leads to production of self-destroyed enzymes. This enzyme destroy collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid in the skin. As a result, skin is wrinkled, lax and rough textured.
What can we do?
The best way we can do is:
Wear a hat. A wide brimmed hat is what I suggest.
Apply a sunscreen every morning as a part of your daily routine. At least a 30 sunscreen with UVA and UVB protection. Apply on the face after moisturizer and before makeup.
When you’re on the beach or at the pool, take an umbrella or pick a spot with trees to offer you some shade.
If you plan on being in the sun for an extended amount of time, always reapply your sunscreen every hour and a half. If there is no direct sun exposure in the office, sunscreen does not need to be reapplied.
Don't forget: the UV rays are hitting the Earth even in a rainstorm!
